Owner Mike Watriss
Mike was born on the banks of Western Run and has been fishing the many wild trout streams around here for over 30 years. An accomplished and award winning decoy carver, Mike's passions include art, fly fishing, and golf (we try to overlook that). Mike handles most of our schools and guiding. In his 15th year at this location Mike has the same passion for the sport and serving customers with the best equipment and materials as the day he opened.

Managing Partner Mike Kidd
Mike caught his first trout on a fly in the Gunpowder 40 years ago. The Gun wasn't much of a trout fishery then but Mike wasn't much of a fisherman so it was a great match! More recently Mike spent 10 years living on the banks of Spring Creek in Centre Co. Pa. working as a full time tier and guide. He returned to his home and joined our staff over four years ago. Mike's passion is tying and after 30 years he is quite knowledgeable about technique and materials.

Guide & Fly Tying Instructor Hugh Hutson

The newest addition to the Great Feathers staff has fifteen years of fly fishing and tying experience (don’t let his baby face fool you). Hugh has grown up fishing the Gunpowder River and has vast experience fishing some of the finest trout rivers in the west. He also is one of our more knowledgeable staff members on salt water fly fishing.

 

A student of fly tying Hugh is more than able to answer questions about North Country Spiders to classic Catskill patterns.
